The latest "Game of Thrones" fan theory could provide answers to Tyrion's parentage as well as why his father, Tywin, despises him. Tyrion could be one-third of the prophesized three-headed dragon if he is a Targaryen.
According to Huffington Post, it may be possible that Tyrion's real father is the Mad King, Aerys Targaryen. For this theory to work, Tyrion's father, Joanna, may have had an affair with the Mad King while Tywin was the Hand of the King. Another explanation is provided by CNET, saying that Aerys could have seduced or raped Joanna. It all comes down to the result that Tywin attempted to abort the baby, which gave Tyrion his deformities and led to Joanna's death.
Huffington Post thinks that Tywin's treatment of Tyrion could support this theory, as Tywin is said to have mouthed "You are no son of mine." Tywin also did not make Tyrion the heir to Casterly Rock.
Moreover, the book supposedly describes Tywin as having blond hair that looks almost white. Tywin also has "a morbid fascination with dragons," making him fit right in with the Targaryens.
This falls in line with a previous theory saying that Jon Snow is also a Targaryen. According to Huffington Post, Daenerys Targaryen heard the prophecy "The dragon has three heads" in the House of the Undying, and the three heads could be her, her nephew Jon Snow, and her half-brother, Tyrion. Following Sean Bean's revelation that Ned Stark is not Jon Snow's real father, speculations arose that Jon Snow could be Rhaegar Targaryen's son, says another Huffington Post article.
According to CNET, Jon Snow could have been the son of Ned's sister, Lyanna, who is kidnapped by Rhaegar after the tourney at Harrenhall.
These theories seem to be cemented by the assumption that both Jon Snow and Tyrion Lannister's mothers died in childbirth, as it is allegedly said that a dragon is born of blood. Also according to CNET, George R. R. Martin has admitted that some theories about the show are accurate. As to which ones are worth investing in, the author did not say.
Unfortunately for the viewers of the show and the readers of Martin's series, there is a long wait before season five and "Winds of Winter," the latest installation in the series "A Song of Ice and Fire," says Wet Paint.
