'Winds of Winter' release date may not be as soon as people expected as renowned author George R.R. Martin aims to continue with writing on this highly anticipated novel slowly, however he admits that he needs to write faster.
The 66-year old novelist and short story writer agrees to the fans that he may need to write faster. "So I need to write faster. The last two books took a really long time, so I'm hoping this one [the Winds of Winter] will go a little faster," the author of the adapted HBO's Game of Thrones claimed on an exclusive interview with Mashable. "But I make no promises. I found out long ago that when you look at the overall task, the cathedral you have to build, it looks so daunting that you just give up and sit down and play a video game."
He admits that he is a bit pressured with the fans raising questions regarding the book's release date. Meanwhile, he reveals that, "I can't see the locomotive yet [on the Game of Thrones' next scenes], but I hear the tracks vibrating."
Martin, however, said that he loves the pressure and that when people are too frenzy for the book's publication date can be too fulfilling. "No book pleases everybody and no timetable pleases everybody. The fact that there are people looking forward to the book is a nice problem to have. It's all good," he said humbly.
Meanwhile, Martin told Hollywood Life that his favorite character to write on is Tyrion Lannister. "I love all my characters, of course, but Tyrion has always been a favorite," he reveals. "He is the easiest to write ... The only thing that is hard is that it takes me days and sometimes weeks to come up with the one-liners that Tyrion comes up with in, like, a minute. I wish in real life I was nearly as acerbic and funny as Tyrion."
What is next with 'Game of Thrones'? The author, then, disclosed that he wants to be on the edge of his seat. "So, the deaths are important and at all times necessary," he concludes.
'The Winds of Winter' is the sixth installment of the 'A Song of Ice and Fire', where the HBO's 'Game of Thrones' is based. On January this year, Martin's UK publisher Jane Johnson replied on a Twitter question if 2015 would be the possible release date. "Certainly not this year," she said.
