Stephen Collins shoots himself after child molestation reveal? Playboy model neighbor live-tweets police scene at '7th Heaven' actor's home

On Tuesday night, multiple media reports have said that a sound resembling a single gunshot wound had disturbed the silence of a suburb in Tarzana, Los Angeles. Daily Mail cited Los Angeles Police Department officer Jane Kim, who said that a 911 call was placed at 6:45PT claiming that a sound resembling a single gunshot fire was heard inside the house of actor Stephen Collins. Collins has been put on the spotlight recently because of allegations of child molestation slammed against him by his now estranged wife.

Collins, is of course, the fictional minister and patriarch of a modern Brady Bunch in "7th Heaven." The actor's image as a picture-perfect father figure was largely affected when a video tape of him confessing to molesting an 11 year-old New York girl multiple times and also making inappropriate advances to two others. His wife Faye Grant allegedly recorded a couples therapy session where Collins made the damaging confession, Hollywood Life said. An audio version of the video has since been obtained by TMZ.

Officer Kim told Daily Mail that police had responded to the area to investigate the claim about the gunshot sound.

Speculation about Collins purportedly taking his life following the leak of the video started when former "Baywatch" star and neighbor Donna D'Errico initially said on Twitter that the actor had tried to kill himself. She first wrote, "That guy from 7th Heaven lives right around the corner from me & just shot himself a few minutes ago...That's all I know. The police have the street cordoned off and aren't even letting residents in..."

D'Errico promptly posted photos of the scene taking place outside her home, which showed a street being cordoned off.

However, the former Playboy model backtracked and posted a series of tweets to correct her report. She wrote, "All I know is what all my neighbors told me. Hoping it's a false alarm. It's a zoo out here. I'm going to bed...I just tweeted out what I was being told by my neighbor who were on scene. I apologize for tweeting what I'd heard before confirming it."

TMZ reported later that Collins was not at his home and is perfectly fine. The actor has yet to issue a statement about the child molestation allegations.
