Kris (Wu Yifan) is reportedly preparing to sign a contract with a Hwai Brothers, a Chinese media company.
According to an October 7 report by the K-Pop Herald, the fomer EXO member is on the verge of signing a contract with the media company. Hwai Brothers is one of the few privately owned entertainment companies in China, as well as the country's 500 largest companies.
Previous reports claimed that Kris' mother allegedly reached to YUEHUA. This has lead to speculations that Kris will be signing with the management company.
YUEHUA is known for representing another former talent of SM Entertainment, Hangeng, who made news after leaving male idol group Super Junior in 2009.
A report cited a representative saying "Kris failed to sign a contract with Hangeng's agency, YUEHUA." The rep suggested it was because the company felt burdened about signing on Kris in addition to Hangeng.
"It appears that Kris is going to be holding hands with Hwai Brothers instead of YUEHUA Entertainment. You can consider him at the stage right before stamping his seal on the contract," added the rep.
After leaving SM Entertainment and male idol group EXO back in May, Kris has been having a number of projects in China. He released a song titled, "Time Boils The Rain," which was the soundtrack of the film "Tine Times 3." He also signed on for roles in a couple of films including "Xiao You Qiao Mu," directed by Korean filmmaker Jo Jin-Kyoo, and "Somewhere Only We Know" by Chinese director Xu Jinglei.
Meanwhile, StarHaus Entertainment China, the Chinese branch of StarHaus Entertainment, revealed collaboration with Hwai Brothers early this year. StarHaus Entertainment is known for managing Korean actor Lee Min Ho as well as other actors. The two companies coordinate for Lee Min Ho's activities in China.
