SM Entertainment releases official statement addressing Luhan’s alleged lawsuit; Fellow EXO member Lay posts heartfelt messages to Luhan and fans

SM Entertainment confirmed allegations regarding EXO member Luhan's reported filing of lawsuit, KpopStarz reports. A few hours before the news broke on October 10, the agency confirmed that the K-pop idol is in the process of filing a case against SM, in an effort to end his contract with the label.

The agency addressed the news through a press release. The following is an English language translation of SM's statement as reported by Koreaboo:

"Our agency has received Luhan's lawsuit on Friday through our corporate law firm.

We are shocked because the lawsuit was suddenly filed while we were in the process of negotiating his future schedules and activities after he expressed his wishes to focus more on his individual activities in China more than group activities, as well as matters concerning his health.

As it was with Kris's case, when a lawsuit is filed for no actual reason by using the same pattern and lawyers after a gaining a lot of popularity as a star through group activities, we see this as one prioritizing one's self and ignoring the understanding of the contract with the agency as well as everyone involved in the contracts and the activities with the group. We believe there is someone behind the scenes who is pulling the strings.

Regarding these kinds of situations, the agency plans to actively respond to it with our partners overseas including those in China as well as legal experts.

EXO's future activities will also proceed on as scheduled."

Luhan was the lead dancer and lead vocalist of SM's successful boy group EXO. He will be the second member of the idol group's Chinese language subgroup, EXO-M, after Kris's (Wu Yifan) exit in May.

After the news broke, Luhan posted on his Instagram a short message saying "I just wanna all of you you to know that I love you all."

Previously, his EXO-M co-member Lay posted on his account on microblog Weibo saying, "Goodbye bro. If we get the chance, let's share a stage together again. As a brother, I support your every decision. Best wishes."

Earlier, Lay also posted a message to EXO-L, the official fanbase of EXO, via his Instagram. The post came with the idol's selfie with numerous fans and a message translated to "Everyone, you must be having a hard time. Please be healthy, make sure to eat, and gain strength! I feel that more than anyone else, our fans are going through the most. Be strong!"

Fans also took to social media to express their support for Luhan, with the #alwayssuportluhan trending worldwide.
