"Batman v Superman" Absent from New York Comic Con, Producer Leaks Wonder Woman Details at College Event

By

All those looking forward to some juicy "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" news at New York Comic Con will be sorely disappointed.

Because there really isn't much. Warner Bros did bring some small tokens of their upcoming DC superhero-fest to please the fans- the cape and cowl that Ben Affleck will wear when he debuts as Batman, and HNGN has a few more tidbits about what was on display.

Apparently, DC Comics is working on a new set of wooden Batman and Superman figures, which can be taken apart and rearranged to combine the Dark Knight's and the Man of Steel's body parts. Warner Bros/DC Marketing Vice President John Cunningham and comic book writer Kyle Higgins were there to present the figures, along with a goofy quote about how little "Batman v Superman" presence there was at Comic Con.

"There's no news I can reveal to you about the production of 'Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice' while we're here, but I can try and sell you an auxiliary product to prepare you for the pageantry that awaits."

At least they're having fun with it.

However, at another event a world away from Comic Con, some juicy "Batman v Superman" news was leaking to a crowd. Charles Roven, producer on the upcoming film, was speaking to the Loyola Marymount University School of Film and Television, when he accidentally revealed Wonder Woman's origin in the film. Entertainment Weekly has the quote about what he said:

She's "a demigod...her father was Zeus."

This makes sense, as it's the same origin Wonder Woman has in her most recent line of comics, but some fans are upset that it's not her original origin. JoBlo put out a piece on the disappointing simplicity of this new origin, comparing it to Wonder Woman's old one, where she was a figure made of clay by Hippolyta, and given life by the Gods as an Amazon.

Which is really way more interesting than "daughter of Zeus."

Check back soon for the latest "Batman v Superman" updates.
