'Supernatural' season 10 episode 2 recap: How will Demon Dean's behavior affect his brotherhood with Sam? Will Castiel get help from Metatron?

By

"Supernatural" has upped the stakes with season 10. After a surprising premiere, episode 2 has brothers Dean and Sam reunited, but not under the best circumstances.

In the first episode of season 10 entitled "Death," Dean seems content on karaoke, sex, and booze after being transformed into a Demon while Sam (Jared Padalecki) continues to search for him. While this is happening, Food World News relays that Sam gets captured and tortured by Cole (Travis Aaron Wade) who is also looking for Dean to exact revenge after his father's death. Wanting to get to Dean, Cole told him that he has Sam and will kill him. Unfortunately, Dean's reply was to "go ahead," adding that he could simply hunt down Cole and end his life easily.

On episode 2, "Reichenbach," a darker side of Demon Dean is shown.

After escaping Cole, Sam made an attempt to contact Castiel for some help, which the angel was more than willing to offer despite not having enough grace to sustain even himself, recalls IB Times. Meanwhile, Crowley urges Dean to feed his mark and kill a target the demon had chosen, but Dean ended up killing someone else. It's not only Crowley's (Mark Sheppard) personal interest in Dean (Jensen Ackles) ruling hell with him that has him urging the older Winchester to kill. According to Movie News Guide, Dean has to kill because of the Mark of Cain.

After not agreeing on Dean's behavior, "Reichenbach" has the two demons parting ways.

When the two brothers finally see each other, Sam encourages Dean to turn back to a human. However, Dean replied in the negative. Shortly after, the Winchester brothers find themselves in a smoked out house courtesy of Cole. Despite having the upper hand, Dean chose not to kill Cole, with Sam noting the action as merciful. Dean has a different view on it though. "That's the worst thing I could have done to him," said Dean. "And what I'm going to do to you, Sammy, well, that's not going to be mercy either."

As for Castiel, Food World News shares that Castiel's (Misha Collins) fading grace might cause his death, but a little help from Metatron (Curtis Armstrong) might save him.
