'Captain America 3' to feature Captain America vs Iron Man in an ethical battle? What does this mean for future 'Avengers' movies and 'Iron Man 4?'

"Captain America 3" might feature a favorite "Avenger" as Robert Downey Jr. is allegedly close to signing on to make an appearance in the Chris Evans movie.

According to IGN, Downey's negotiations are in the final stages and it is possible to see him as Iron Man when the movie is shown starting May 6, 2016. Because of Iron Man's presence in the movie, it is predicted that the storyline will head into the Marvel Civil War. As IGN explains, "It (Civil War) saw Cap and Iron Man divided over the Superhero Registration Act; a legislative bill forcing all vigilantes to register their identities with the US Government and act under its command." Stark and Captain America will be on opposing sides, which will lead to a stand-off between the two.

Negotiating Downey's appearance started as that for a small role, shares IGN. However, Downey allegedly wanted a bigger part in the movie, which made Marvel Entertainment chief Ike Perlmutter order entirely removing Stark from the script. To this Marvel's Kevin Feige disagreed, proposing that the new storyline could give "a new breath of life" for Marvel characters. The change in storyline will affect the next "Avengers," as well as new solo movies for Doctor Strange and Ant-Man.

Because of the bigger role granted to him, Downey will reportedly earn $40 million, reveals sources from Variety.

The third "Captain America" movie does not have an official title yet, but some of the options are "Captain America: Civil War" or "Captain America: Fallen Son," as shared by Badass Digest.

Though fans may be thrilled to see Downey as Iron Man, Entertainment Weekly considers it a bad idea. According to the article, "'Winter Soldier' works because everything about it flows out of Captain America: the character, the icon, the ideas underpinning decades of mythology. Doesn't adding Iron Man into the equation immediately ruin whatever was special and unique about the 'Cap' franchise?" Furthermore, the article added, "How long until Tony Stark visits Asgard to build Thor a suit of armor?"

Deadline says that Marvel has refused to comment on whether "Captain America 3" will indeed go into "Civil War," but a teaser for the comic book return of the storyline in summer of 2015 has been released.
