"Standing apart from other smartwatches, Samsung Gear S will be able to make and receive calls and messages along with all the regular wearable functionalities, and can work independently," the article says. Aside from cellular signal, it also has WiFi, A-GPS, Bluetooth 4.1, and GPS/Glonass.

Fashion & Style states that Samsung Gear S comes with its own cellular connectivity, which enables users to use it to check their social media accounts and e-mail accounts without having to connect to a different connection. However, this also means that the smartwatch's number is not the same as your phone's number when making a call.

Running on Tizen software, the watch with a 2-inch curved OLED display apparently has a 300 mAh Li-ion battery that can last for two days. Samsung Gear S can be paired with other Samsung smartphones such as Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and Samsung Galaxy S5.
