Former EXO member Kris, professionally known today as Wu Yifan, has reportedly recorded a song for his upcoming film, Allkpop reports.
The song is titled "There Is A Place" and its lyrics were written by Kris himself. The song will be used for Xu Jinglei's movie "Somewhere Only We Know." Photos taken during Kris' recoding were also released.
It was previously reported by Allkpop that the former idol will be releasing a song on his birthday in November 6. And after the news on the singer's recording broke, fans assumed that this may be the song he will be releasing on his birthday.
According to another report, the Canadian-Chinese singer will sing his new song live in an event that fans can live stream.
Reports from Chinese media posted and translated by Mr. Galaxy Fanfan's House claim that it took Yifan 10 hours in the recording studio to finish the song. The film's director, Xu Jinglei, was also present during the recording. When asked about the singer's performance, she said other than being the former idol's first work as a solo singer, the song will also be significantly valuable and worth listening to.
Meanwhile, it was previously reported that Kris was having a hard time looking for an agency to sign in China. Back in May, the former SM Entertainment talent filed a lawsuit against the record label, left his megagroup, and has since moved to China.
There were reports that Yifan had talks with YUEHUA Entertainment and Hwai Brothers, but it turns out no signing happened.
Online media noted that the agencies might be wary of getting Yifan as talent because of his "deserter" image.
Meanwhile, EXO is continuing their promotions as 10-member group following the departure of another Chinese member, Luhan. It was recently confirmed that the male idol group will be performing in the upcoming Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) 2014.
