As we have officially entered November, it's time for any Xbox owners to rev up their Xbox Live Gold accounts and reap the monthyl offering of free games.
First up, according to Latinos Post, is "Volgarr the Viking," a side-scrolling action game that harkens back to the 2D, pixelated arcade games of old. Also, it's freakishly difficult, for that authentic retro experience. Unlike most Games with Gold offerings (which are often available for only half the month, at which point a different title becomes available), "Volgarr the Viking" is available throughout all of November, on the Xbox One.
However, according to Christian Post, "Volgarr the Viking" is offered up only to US and UK Xbox Live Gold subscribers- gamers in any other territory will receive a different game.
According to a quote from Christian Post:
"Customers in Australia, Brazil, Germany, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Russia and Taiwan will instead receive the full version of the Xbox One launch title 'Powerstar Golf."
Christian Post also details what Xbox 360 owners will be receiving this month- for the first half of November (up until the 15th), "Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise" will be available. Then, on the 16th, "Red Faction: Guerilla" will be the free offering for the rest of the month.
Getting any of these games for free would be a sweetheart deal- Xbox's official Games with Gold page lists "Volgarr the Viking" as listing for $9.99, "Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise" for $14.99, and "Red Faction: Guerilla" for $19.99.
Yes, technically, you have to pay for Xbox Live Gold to take advantage of the free games, but if you're already subscribing (or planning to sign up in the next week or two), those monthly freebies are a huge incentive.
Check back soon (presumably, in December) for the next round of Games with Gold free offerings.
