Blackjacks, the official fandom of 2NE1, has launched a social media campaign with the goal of encouraging the K-pop group to attend the upcoming Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) 2014, KpopStars reports.
Fans are using the hashtag "WeWant2NE1onMAMA2014" on various social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. With the slogan "No 2NE1, No MAMA," fans are trying to send the message across other Blackjacks across the globe.
More importantly, the campaign is their way of addressing the statement earlier issued by YG Entertainment about the female idol group's abstinence from attending and performing at end-of-year award ceremonies and events.
On October 24, the record label released a statement. A representative from the company was quoted by Korean media outlet TenAsia saying, "Though they've received a number of offers for music award ceremonies, we respectfully declined."
"Park Bom is still reflecting, so we ask for your understanding," added YG's rep. The 2NE1 member was recently involved in allegations concerning prohibited drugs.
"2NE1 cannot put on a show without Park Bom. However, besides that, Park Bom is not participating in any other domestic schedules. She is currently taking time to self-reflect. Please support them until they make their comeback. They will make a good album and come back as 2NE1."
Composed of CL, Dara, Minzy, and Bom, the group is leading in MAMA 2014's Best Female Group Category with 30.5% of votes as of November 5. SM Entertainment's Girls' Generation is on second place with 24%.
A fan, who goes by the Twitter name @lemontaehyun, wrote, "MAMA without 2NE1 is like celebrating a birthday party without the celebrant."
The hashtag has trended yet, but 2NE1 and YG fans continue to use their social media accounts to spread the word. They have also taken to Mnet's social media to catch attention.
The campaign, which does not attribute a sole organizer, will continue until November 7.
