As voting continues for the upcoming Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) 2014, it seems there has been a few changes in the ranking of the idols. One of the most notable changes is YG's rookie group WINNER ousting SM Entertainment's EXO in the UnionPay Artist of the Year, Enews reports.
As of November 5 ranking, WINNER received 21.9% of votes with EXO in close second with 21%. The fight is close as there is only over 40,000 votes difference. Fans of the seemingly strong and widely supported megagroup of SM still have the chance to place EXO in the top place. That is only if the relatively new group, WINNER's fans would allow that to happen.
KpopStars noted that EXO continues to be on the lead with Big Bang's Taeyang for the UnionPay Song of the Year. EXO's "Overdose," has so far received 24.4% while Taeyang's "Eyes, Nose, Lips" has 14.8%.
Meanwhile, WINNER remains at the top of ranking for the Best New Artist category, after JYP Entertainment's rookie group GOT7 has placed No. 1 at some point. WINNER has 38.4% of votes while GOT7 has 38.1%, with only a matter of 15,000 votes in between. From what it seems, WINNER has been receiving great support from their fans.
For the Best Male Group category, on the other hand, SM Entertainment's Super Junior stays strong on the top spot, with 32.4%, as of November 5. On second place is their label mate EXO, with 31.6%.
Meanwhile, in the Best Dance Performance Solo category, Ailee has lost her lead to former Wonder Girls member Sunmi. Ailee currently has 25.8% of votes for "Don't Touch Me" while Sunmi's "Full Moon," which has since started weak behind Ailee's, has already received 30.8%.
So far, MAMA has received 9,845,168 votes. Fans can still continue supporting their idols by voting here before the voting closes in December 2.
