Things have slowly begun to turn around for "Longmire."
When the show was first cancelled, it looked like the end for this Western-tinged crime drama (as cancellation usually is for any TV show). But the fans have been tweeting and rioting and things have gone from desperate to pretty hopeful.
Now's the time to get even more hopeful- Christian Today reports that the show may actually "be on track to be back."
To clarify this more is a statement from Craig Johnson, the author behind "The Walt Longmire Mysteries" novel series that the show is based on. Here's what Johnson told WyomingNews.com:
"I expect to hear something about it by Christmas, which should actually work out pretty well," Johnson said. "That would make a great present for the fans and the state of Wyoming, I think."
"It's still a longer process than people think, though, because we have to go to each network before we can get a deal done to see what everyone is offering or thinking," Johnson added. "It doesn't help that these are uncertain times in TV with the rise of streaming, for example, but a lot of networks are canceling shows and looking for things to fill the holes."
That's easily the best news "Longmire" fans have received so far.
One thing's for sure, though- whatever network might pick up "Longmire," it certainly won't be A&E. Cinema Blend reports that the network that originally cancelled the series has replaced it with a Jenny McCarthy reality program called "Donnie Loves Jenny." They're reporting that this is marking a trend for A&E, towards reality programming and away from scripted shows like "Longmire."
There are plenty of other networks out there, though. Hopefully "Longmire" can lock things down with one of them.
