It looks like "Bond 24" may have found its villain.
The 24th (duh) James Bond film already had two new characters locked in- Dave Bautista as the massive henchman to the main villain (sure to delight any "Guardians of the Galaxy" fans) and Lea Seydoux as the latest femme fatale Bond girl.
But now it's got a third- according to Baz Bamigboye of the Daily Mail, via Tweet, Christoph Waltz is officially in the next James Bond film.
So who's he playing? Well, the obvious answer would be a villain- Waltz is a tremendously capable actor, but he's at his best when playing a sneering sociopath (see "Inglorious Basterds" for proof).
Enstars, however, is not quite so sure. They think that Waltz's casting might be some kind of double-cross, that he may come off as a villain but really end up aiding Bond in the end (this of course, would leave us short a villain, unless Bautista or Seydoux are bumped up to lead baddie halfway through the film).
However, Enstars' reports seem based mostly on speculation, so it might be best to take the hero talk with a grain of salt.
Cinema Blend, meawhile, has the opposite opinion- not only do they think Waltz is going evil, but he'll become the epitome of all evil in the James Bond franchise- Ernst Stavro Blofeld.
The villain, who popularized the idea of a preening villain stroking a white cat from behind a swivel chair, is Bond's greatest nemesis- and a fantastic idea for the next Bond film. Heck, maybe even the next two or three- Blofeld and his evil organization, SPECTRE, are long-standing things in the Bond universe.
But we'll have to wait for official word from either Waltz or someone officially connected to the film to hear a real answer.
