EXO member Baekhyun has received negative comments from netizens after being disrespectful toward YG Entertainment's duo, Hi Suhyun. The YG Entertainment-managed group won over Baekhyun's fellow SM Entertainment artist and Super Junior member Kyuhyun on last Sunday's episode of "Inkigayo", which was aired by SBS, KpopStars reports.
Hi Shuhyun, composed of soloist Lee Hi and Akdong Musician's Suhyun, had their first music program win on Sunday for their debut single "I'm Different." However, Baekhyun, who is one of the hosts of the show, made the bigger headline.
The video of the announcement of the winner received numerous comments on the EXO member's attitude. "Baekhyun never shows his respect towards YG artists," says M Zaman on YouTube. "Whenever any YG artist wins the trophy he always ignores them."
The same commenter also wrote about a similar incident in the past, saying, "I still remember when 2NE1 won over Girls' Generation. He didn't even bow to CL even though CL bowed towards him."
The commenter was referring to an incident back in March where YG's 2NE1 competed against SM's Girls' Generation with their comeback tracks "Come Back Home" and "Mr. Mr." respectively. At the end of the show, 2NE1 was hailed the winner. Fans noticed that some of SM Entertainment's artists, including Baekhyun and Girls' Generation's Sunny.
Another netizen, who goes by the YouTube name viedelrey, defended Baekhyun saying, "I don't see what everyone means about Baekhyun. He honestly looks tired, and also think of all the drama SM is going through right now. I doubt he's the happiest person. And at the end, he's smiling."
Hosted by actress Kim Yoo Jung, ZE:A's Kwanghee and EXO's Suho and Baekhyun, "Inkigayo" featured a number of artists' comebacks, and solo debut. Performances include Hyorin & Joo Young's "Erase," A Pink's "LUV" and "Secret," GOT7's "Stop Stop It," MAMAMOO's "Piano Man," and Nicole's "MAMA."
Hi Suhyun took home the trophy after beating Kyuhyun and AOA.
