"Outlander" stars Sam Heughan (Jamie Fraser) and Caitriona Balfe (Claire Randall) had already wrapped up filming the second half of the show's first season, which is slated to return on April 4, but they are currently in Los Angeles for the Golden Globes.
As Pop Sugar caught up with the costars, the article mentioned Balfe saying that not much has changed about her personal life since the show started. According to Balfe, "Obviously a show like this opens more doors and creates more opportunities, which is amazing, but other than that, I still hang out with my friends and do my thing."
Balfe shared that the production team had finished filming the first season about a month ago. As for why it is taking long for the show to come back on air, Balfe admitted she has no idea. "I don't know why they did that to them. It was very mean!" Balfe joked, says Pop Sugar. Balfe continued, "A lot of shows are doing [split seasons] now, and it also gave us a chance to finish filming, because that was also a big thing."
Since they have finished filming, Balfe says that now fans have "something really fun to look forward to."
Balfe and Heughan also hinted at a particular scene to be shown in the upcoming episodes. Apparently, the two, who play Claire and Jamie on the show, will be rowing a boat together. They "found they didn't have a particular talent for it," shares Pop Sugar, with Heughan saying that it was "tough" and Balfe interjecting, "Sam's a terrible rower."
Balfe and Heughan will both be in attendance at the Golden Globes in Hollywood.
Them being in Hollywood brings them away from Scotland's castles, where they have been filming until a few weeks ago. According to Scotland Now, "The hit show was filmed across various locations in Scotland, including a one-month stint at Doune Castle." "Outlander" has also been dubbed as "Scotland's 'Game of Thrones'" because of its big budget and expensive production. The site reports that it cost more than £50million to produce.
Apart from the big budget for the show, fans also applaud Balfe's performance as Claire, which was unexpected considering she started out as a model. According to Irish Independent, "Balfe demonstrates that she can carry a show, and has the talent to stand out in what is the kind of big-budget production in which it is entirely possible for actors to get lost."
