On Friday, the force made itself known once again in at least 30 select theaters, and later on iTunes and YouTube. The highly-anticipated film "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" debuted an 88-second clip that had fans clamoring for more.
For those who have not seen the clip yet, here are top five things you need to know about the new "Star Wars" film based on the teaser:
1. Andy Serkis is the man behind the voice of the teaser.
Screenrant said that apart from the visual spectacle the teaer provided, many are debating on which actor had lent his voice to the teaser trailer. Names like Benedict Cumberbatch and Max Von Sydow came up. However, it has been reported that it was Andy Serkis who did the voiceover. Collider's Steven Weintraub had verified this information and announced it on Twitter as well.
Serkis's line in the teaser had got people thinking what exactly is his role in the film. But if we based it on the teaser, his character might be a Force-sensitive individual. His line read, "There's been an awakening... have you felt it? The Dark Side... and the light."
2. John Boyega's character has been confirmed to be that of a Stormtrooper deserter.
Daily Beast said that in the teaser, Boyega is seen coming into the desert that looks remarkably like Tatooine. Moreover, the scenes in the teaser supposedly confirms that Boyega's role is crucial, as he or Daisy Ridley would be bringing a lightsaber held by a severed hand to its rightful owner.
3. The original gang is back.
Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), and Kenny Baker (R2-D2), are seen reprising their original roles in earlier films. This is an awesome treat for fans who have already grown up and are inching for a little bit of nostalgia in the upcoming film.
4. The teaser did not provide any concrete proof on who the next villains are.
Screenrant said that apart from Serkis' questionable role in the film, there is no evidence on what would our new heroes face up against.
5. A spy and comic book superheroes from other universes might be making cameos in the film.
Daily Beast said that if UK gossip columns are to be believed, Daniel Craig, Hugh Jackman, Samuel L. Jackson, and Robert Downey Jr. will all be making cameos in the film. Of all the four actors, fans of the franchise would easily believe that Jackson would make a cameo considering the role he earlier played. As for the rest, it would be interesting whether they'd play the good or the bad guys in the film.
