Billboard announced on December 1 that YG Entertainment's unit GD x Taeyang, composed of Big Bang members G-Dragon and Taeyang, debuted at no.1 on their World Digital Songs chart for the EDM and hip-hop track, "Good Boy."
According to Billboard, the collaboration track started "atop the chart with just three days of sales, moving 5,000 copies according to Nielsen SoundScan."
"Good Boy" debuted at no. 1 on its World Digital Songs chart. This makes the YG duo the third K-pop artist to make it to the top of the chart. The Big Bang members followed the footsteps of their globally popular label mates Psy, for his hit song "Gangnam Style," "Gentleman," and "Hangover," as well as girl group 2NE1 for "I Am the Best."
Koreaboo noted that "Good Boy" has previously caught the attention of Billboard in early November. After its release, the song topped major local music charts in South Korea, as well as in the international charts for iTunes.
After its release on November 21, the "Good Boy" MV has already received over 10.5 million views on YouTube, as of December 3.
In other news, the song, which is part of YG Entertainment's hip-hop projects, has been chosen for FUSE TV's "November's Best Dance Song Top 10" list, KpopStars reports.
YG Entertainment announced on December 2 that "Good Boy" had been included in the list of the best dance songs for the previous month. According to the report, GD x Taeyang pitted against other international artists.
"Taeyang's vocals and G-Dragon's rapping and singing make a great match and create smooth melody," said FUSE TV.
According to another report, while the duo has not appeared in any music show for promotions, they recently won the No.1 trophy on SBS' "Inkigayo."
Meanwhile, the duo is scheduled to release a "Good Boy Special Edition" on December 12. G-Dragon and Taeyang are also set to have their debut stage as a new unit in today's 2014 Mnet Asian Music Awards which will be held in Hong Kong.
