There's a new YA sensation sweeping the Internet right now. "Moonquake Lake," starring Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis. He plays a regular guy, and she plays some kind of fish that has to live on the moon (the mythology behind it's pretty complicated). They're in love, obviously.
Also, Rihanna plays a water demon of some kind.
Oh, and one other thing- "Moonquake Lake" is totally fake- it's really just a fake movie that was joked about in the upcoming "Annie," and there's a fake trailer out for this fake movie, directed by real people Phil Lord and Chris Miller (of "The Lego Movie").
Check out the trailer below.
This little in-joke goes terrifyingly deep- not only is there a fake trailer, but there's also a tag line- "When you have no Choice? How do you Choose?" and an official website at SonyPictures.com.
That's where we found the image above, which shows off a poster for "MoonQuake Like," featuring a terribly Photoshopped Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis.
Not only that, but those involved in the "MoonQuake Lake" gag are committing to it hardcore- Ashton Kutcher, Phil Lord and Chris Miller are all tweeting about the film and refusing to acknowledge that it's a fake.
Here's Kutcher:
"Get a sneak-peek of my new movie #MoonQuakeLake when you see #AnnieMovie December 19th. https://moonquakelake.com "
Here's Lord:
"Proud to unveil our next project... Catch a sneak peek when you see #AnnieMovie in theaters December 19th. https://MoonQuakeLake.com"
And here's Miller:
It's not hyperbole to say the most important cinematic event of the millennium will have a sneak peek in #AnnieMovie https://moonquakelake.com"
By far, Miller's doing the best job of selling "MoonQuake Lake."
What do you think- fake or not, would you shell out to see it?
Check back soon for the latest updates on the most important cinematic event of the millenium.
