Just when fans of the "Transformers" film franchise has stopped holding out hope for another sequel, actor Mark Wahlberg managed to revive that zest to make that installment happen once again. Wahlberg, who started in what perhaps is the lowest domestic earning "Transformers" sequel, "Age of Extinction," told MTV News that he will be filming for "Transformers 5" as Cade Yeager.
Although his response was short, it did indicate his commitment to the franchise. When asked about his contract with the "Transformers" film franchise, he replied, ""Yeah, I committed to doing a couple more."
Cinemablend said that a real threat that would have ended the franchise was director Michael Bay's interest to venture out of "Transformers". His response supposedly indicated that he is ready to pass along his duties to another director.
"There's kind of a new chapter, a new direction in movies I want to make.I have a lot of stories to tell. And it's about flexing new muscles," he said.
Bay's response about plans of a "Transformers" sequel seem to coincide with series producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, of whom Screenrant has quoted that despite a report by Paramount Pictures of their 2016 plans to release "Transformers 5," there are no concrete plans yet.
On the other hand, could this be because studio executives are gearing to introduce a new depth into the "Transformers" storyline? Breathcast noted a post from the Comic Central City Facebook fan page that details the possible new robots which will be introduced in the near future. Supposedly "Transformers" villain Galvatron will be joined by Quintessons, an ancient dark race who created the Transformers. Should this be the case, the site said that the possible story line will have viewers be taken back again to former robot factory Cybertron before its destruction.
