Perma-Death Comes to 'Far Cry 4' In New DLC Update

Ubisoft has a slew of new updates planned for "Far Cry 4."

The first (and biggest) that we know of comes from a report in Christian Today - a DLC update called "Escape from Durgesh Prison" will be added to the game on January 13. The DLC, naturally, will involve the player character, Ajay, escaping from prison - but the biggest news involving this DLC is that it will have permadeath - a new addition for "Far Cry 4."

According to Christian Today, "Far Cry 4" is seriously upping the difficulty level for "Escape from Durgesh Prison," and when players die they won't be able to pick up where they left off - instead, they'll have to restart the entire thing and try again. Hence, "permadeath."

The DLC will cost $10 when it's released in January, but the content is free if the player purchases a Season Pass for "Far Cry 4," which includes other content - fun stuff like the yeti-filled "Valley of the Yetis" mission. And who among us hasn't wanted to kill a Yeti once or twice?

But "Escape from Durgesh Prison" isn't the only newness coming to "Far Cry 4." According to Shacknews, the latest patch for the game has introduced a major bug. Apparently, when your character is at karma 8, the game can freeze whenever it's saved, and will continue to freeze, preventing the player from ever saving the game.

Luckily, Ubisoft swooped in rather quickly to solve the error. A post on Ubisoft's official forums from their PC Community Manager explained that the bug should patched up real quick.

"With the Uplay download of the latest PC patch, 1.6.0, we have received reports that players are unable to save their progress or retain their existing saves. We're very sorry for this inconvenience and any additional trouble caused by this issue."

"Fortunately, for those affected, we now have a solution that should allow saving to work as normal. The team is working on a hotfix to address the issue which will be rolling out shortly."

"We thank you for for patience."

Let's hope the only thing Ubisoft adds to "Far Cry 4" from now on is DLC.
