Microsoft Announces 'Halo 5: Limited Collector's Edition' For an Unbelievable $249.99!

By

"Halo 5: Guardians" is more than a year away- according to Microsoft, the official release date for the latest "Halo" game is set as a vague "fall 2015."

But Microsoft is already announcing just how you'll be able to buy "Halo 5" - and just how much it'll cost.

According to Xbox's official site, the game will retail for $59.99 (fairly standard for a current-gen console game), but will also be available in two upgraded editions, the Limited Edition and the Limited Collector's Edition. The latter is priced at an unbelievably pricey $249.99.

Here's exactly what you'll be getting for those kinds of prices (courtesy of Microsoft):

"Standard Edition for $59.99 - Halo 5: Guardians plus an exclusive poster1, only available to those who pre-order.

Limited Edition2 for $99.99 - Everything in the Standard Edition plus new digital content to enhance Spartan combat and exclusive items wrapped in a uniquely designed steel book.

Limited Collector's Edition3 for $249.99 - Everything in the Limited Edition as well as additional content such as a commemorative numbered statue designed by 343 Industries. More details on the design to be shared at a later date."

Many of the major gaming sites are balking at that last price ta g- Destructoid urging its readers to consider not spending more than two hundred dollars on a single video game, while Gamestop notes that the "commemorative numbered statue" has yet to be revealed to the public.

Which is a good point- although all three "Halo 5: Guardians" editions are available for pre-order, Microsoft has yet to reveal exactly what's in that last edition. It may be best to wait on that one.

However, previous statues in special editions of "Halo" games are usually of Master Chief, so another Master Chief statue is a fair bet.

Check back soon for the latest news on "Halo 5: Guardians" and its many special editions.
