Galaxy S6 Rumors: Samsung to fix TouchWiz like a Nexus 6? Unit to debut in South Korea on February looking like a Note Edge?

By

The latest rumors surrounding the release of Samsung's highly anticipated Galaxy S6 had some of its hard-core fans rejoicing with the news that the company will finally remedy one of the mobile users' headaches. An anonymous source told Business Korea that Samsung is working on reducing the kinks on TouchWiz down to the level of Google's flagship phone.

The source said, "We are aiming to get rid of unnecessary functions and simplify our UI at the level of Google's Nexus 6."

Business Korea explained that Nexus levels means that the software will utilize a basic user interface (UI) without a separate one and that they do not need extra storage unlike the TouchWiz version.

Techradar.com said that this bit of news is somewhat wishful thinking, considering that stripping down TouchWiz to Nexus 6 levels was impossible as it runs on stock Android. On the other hand, if Samsung manages to resolve the kinks, it would definitely improve the mobile software experience. Gizmodo said that as Samsung's flagship smartphone, the S6 would be adopting similar features as that of the Note 4 and galaxy Alpha.

The site wrote, "And if that impeccable hardware was paired with a clean user experience with little (or none?!) of Samsung's characteristically horrible TouchWiz in the way? Considering the S line has a history of great screens, top of the line guts, replaceable batteries, and microSD expansion slots-aka "good hardware all around"-we're coming up on Dream Phone territory here."

Moreover, BGR said that reports are suggesting that S6 would be coming with "edge panels" that were seen on Galaxy Note Edge. Howeover, the site said that it remains to be clear whether there is a real benefit to the smartphone user should this be adopted in the S6.

Meanwhile, Seoulfn.com cited a source, who said that the galaxy S6 will debut in South Korea in February, contrary to many beliefs that it will be released at MWC 2015 in Barcelona, Spain. The rest of the world will reportedly wait for the coveted handset at the very max the following month.
