Sides of Oscar Pistorius murder trial compiled in John Carlin's "Chase Your Shadow"; Author rationalizes athletes' claim could be possible

The world's views on paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius has turned around ever since he was convicted in the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp last year. Now confined behind the bars of Kgosi Mampuru prison in Pretoria, the so called "The Blade Runner" who garnered awards and accolades in his sports career earns massive criticisms.

The ups and downs in Pistorius' life drama captured John Carlin who authored Chase Your Shadow: The Trials of Oscar Pistorius, a book that would try to feature all angels of famous South African runner's murder incident. With his interview with Mail & Guardian, Carlin shared that initially he's also part of the crowd who thought Pistorius as a "monster."

"It was only when I decided to embark on the book about a month later that I thought: 'Listen, mate, just clear you mind here and start as honestly as you possibly can.'

"And then, when I started to find out more about it and hear things from people who knew him, I began to open my mind to the possibility that this, what seemed to me, utterly ludicrous, insane notion that he thought it was an intruder could conceivably be true," the 58-year old journalist -author said.

To find out more where the Pistorius's coming from, Carlin even went to places that 28-year old athlete leaves as Mail and Guardian reported. He went to meet Pistorius' prosthetic engineer in America, in his training ground in Italy and Iceland to chat with the individuals who thought to adopt him. These travels together with his in depth analysis, accordingly, made Carlin to realize that it's probably true that he committed the murder by mistakes.

But before or during Carlin's research, Pisctorius himself was, in fact, contemplating about the concept. In the interview of The Observer with Pistorius' manager and agent Peet van Zyl, he said that they already discussed about

"He will write his own book," van Zyl said. "We've discussed it. We've talked about ideas and concepts. I'm not going to go into details now.
