LG's Australian division has confirmed that people may start getting notifications about Android 5.0 Lollipop's availability starting January 23. However, people should still be on the lookout as the company only noted that the firmware can go out as soon as the date. Similar to other Android updates, phone companies and carriers have always carried out releases in stages. This may mean that some users can get the Android 5.0 Lollipop on their LG G3 devices sooner while other later.
Users are advised to wait until the end of February for the complete rollout. This is under the condition that no issues will arise. According to Android Origin, those who have purchased their units from a wireless carrier should be prepared for a later release. It is best for unit owners to check with their carriers for specific dates. Nonetheless, for those using an unlocked version then they just have to wait for the official release of the firmware.
As with other releases from Android, LG users can also check the update through the LG Mobile Support Tool. It works similar to the Samsung Kies application. Individuals only need install the application to check for updates.
Apart from the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, LG is also reportedly preparing for the release of the LG G4. However, it appears that the device will not be making an appearance at the MWC. According to IT Pro Portal, the release may be delayed as LG executives hint the launch to be later than May.
According to reports, the upcoming LG G4 may feature a Snapdragon 810, Quad HD display and 16MP primary camera. Consumers are advised to take this with a grain of salt. The features may still change before the release.
