Jennifer Lawrence calls own franchise a "failure," wants to retire at 35? "Mockingjay Part 1" bests "Guardians of the Galaxy" as 2014's top grossing film

Internet darling Jennifer Lawrence called the franchise that made her a household name a "failure." But of course she was only joking.

Lawrence was tasked to present an award to the CEO of Lionsgate, Jon Feltheimer, for the Producer's Guild Awards, where she took the opportunity to call her own franchise a "failure." According to E! Online, Lawrence started the speech at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza with wishing that she had taken some "Xanax" before going onstage.

The actor behind Katniss Everdeen of "The Hunger Games" movie franchise also mentioned usually saying no to speeches "on account of my crippling anxiety and the unbreakable bond between woman and couch."

However, Lawrence added, "But when I heard it was for Feltheimer, I had to say yes because I just assumed that I was contractually obligated but then when I found out that I wasn't, I had already picked out this dress."

Lawrence proceeded to say, "Jonn was charged to insure that Suzanne Collins' 'Hunger Games' incredible trilogy of books was respectfully brought to life in four films and it was a...large f-king failure!" She also mentioned having been afraid of signing on for the big role because of its potential to "make or break a career."

Lawrence also stars in a variety of other movies, including "American Hustle," "Winter's Bone" and "X-Men" movies.

"I put my trust in Lionsgate and they put their trust in me and now I think we have a strong and amazing relationship that I hope lasts until my career dies at 35," Lawrence continued.

However, MTV predicts that Lawrence will make it longer than her own estimate, as she has already won an Oscar winner and been nominated three times despite her young age. If the success of "Hunger Games" is to be considered, she will not be getting out of the scene soon.

In fact, Huffington Post reports that "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1" has just been named the top grossing movie in 2014. According to an announcement made by Lionsgate, the third movie in the franchise earned $333.2 million in North American box office, surpassing "Guardians of the Galaxy." This is despite "Guardians of the Galaxy" earning from 3D and IMAX surcharges.

Back in 2013, the second movie, "Catching Fire," also toppled another heavyweight, "Iron Man 3," to earn 2013's biggest release. "Mockingjay's" 2014 win makes it the first time that a franchise has earned the spot twice in a row.
