One of the most shocking revelation in the show business nowadays is the revelation of Tom Cruise's wiretapping to Nicole Kidman's phone. The supposed reason why Tom wiretapped Nicole's phone is related to his Scientology. In one HBO's highly anticipated documentary revealed that one of the church's involvement to the former couple's broken marriage.
According to the documentary's in-depth research about the church, they have also observed how this church has affected the high -profiled people's relationships including their marriages to their beliefs.
Mark "Marty" Rathbun, who is the former second highest-ranking church official and who also defected from the church in 2004, spoke to director Alex Gibney's film "Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison of Belief." According to The Daily Beast, The film was based on the book of the same name by Lawrence Wright, which contains reports about its exposé on Scientology and made some startling accusations including Tom, as one of their most famous members.
He said that the main cause why Tom-Nicole marriage broke was because of David Miscavige, Scientology's current top leader, disapproved Tom's former wife, Nicole.
His disapproval was related to Nicole's father, who died just last year, was a known psychologist in Australia and the said religion despises psychology and psychiatry. Another reason was that Nicole was not a member of the church. So, the church labeled her as a "Potential Trouble Source." As cited in Laist, the Scientology Handbook described Nicole as, "a person who is in some way connected to and being adversely affected by a suppressive person."
It was also Miscavige's campaign to break-up the married couple, to which Rathbun was then put to charge to facilitate the break-up.
The church even worked to brainwash Nicole and Tom's adoptive children to turn against their adoptive mother. So, Tom was alleged to wiretapped Nicole's phone to make relief to the church about her sharing the secrets of the church to other non-members. Miscavige have kept the tapped calls to his files, though there was no definite reports about what information he got from her calls.
As reported, when Nicole, a raised Catholic, was convincing Tom to slowly get out from the church, since he wasn't that devoted follower of the church during that time. So, when Tom didn't answered the church's calls for some days, this worried the church. NY Daily News cited that one of the hidden reason's why Miscavige he wanted to break the couple is he fears that could lose his billion-dollar member.
Apart from Miscavige's involvement to Tom's broken marriage, Rathbun also revealed that Miscavige had done some aggressive psycholoanalysis with Tom and blased him for his "perverted" sexual fetishes.
