"The Winds of Winter" will be the sixth installment in George R.R. Martin's epic novel, "A Song of Ice and Fire". While fans have been anxiously anticipating any news on its release date this year, Martin's publisher may have revealed what to expect on the upcoming book.
Will there be a release for "The Winds of Winter" this 2015?
A recent report states that HarperCollins through Jane Johnson announced that George R.R. Martin is not yet done in writing "The Winds of Winter". According to Johnson the sixth installment of "A Song of Ice and Fire" requires Martin to focus all his energy and time to complete considering that it is very complicated. She said that, "I have no information on likely delivery. These are increasingly complex books and require immense amounts of concentration to write." She even said that fans will be thankful for Martin once it is finished since, according to her, it is voluminous and extensive work, explaining that "Fans really ought to appreciate that the length of these monsters is equivalent to two or three novels by other writers."
"A Knight of Seven Kingdoms"
In the meantime, fans can look forward to "A Knight of Seven Kingdoms", a three prequel novellas, which will be available later this year. It will be in an illustrated edition which will include The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword, and The Mystery Knight. According to Johnson, "The novellas are illustrated in black and white line drawings throughout by Gary Gianni in classic style. It will be a truly lovely book, and I adore these clever, funny stories. They give fascinating insights into the ongoing story, from the point of view of Ser Duncan the Tall, a hedge knight, and his squire Egg - who may be rather more than he first seems. The short novels have been previously published in separate anthologies but never put together before, and this will be a particularly beautiful edition."

While fans may be furious over the news, they should be cautious and considerate with regard to their favorite author. Neil Gaiman, in the past, has expressed his sentiments with regards to the fans who awaits Martin's latest novel. According to Gaiman, "George RR Martin is not your bitch," he added that "This is a useful thing to know, perhaps a useful thing to point out when you find yourself thinking that possibly George is, indeed, your bitch, and should be out there typing what you want to read right now. People are not machines. Writers and artists aren't machines."
The delayed release of "The Winds of Winter" will have a significant effect on the upcoming "Game of Thrones" TV Series. According to Mashable, the production team of HBO TV hit series will stick to their original intention that the show will end with Season 7. With the yearly Season of Game of Thrones, the TV show will be airing its 7th Season on 2017 and this will largely overtake the events in the book considering that George R.R. Martin will only be able to publish "The Winds of Winter" on 2016 and it will take him another 3 or even 6 years to publish "A Dream of Spring" the final book for "A Song of Ice and Fire" novel.
"The Winds of Winter" may not get released this 2015 but fans can still find solace and comfort in "A Knight of Seven Kingdoms" to soothe their longing for the Kingdom of Westeros. Stay in tune for more updates on the upcoming book.
