After years of being in the pipeline and suffering from dropouts of talents, sci-fi romantic drama
"Passengers" is getting a fresh new start. And it seems to be a high-profile one as well, with A-list actors and Hollywood's hottest stars Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt rumored to be in talks with Sony for the lead roles.
Variety (via CinemaBlend.com) first spilled that Lawrence was under negotiation to play the role of a female passenger aboard an interstellar voyage who was awoken from her cryogenic sleep by another passenger-to be played by Chris Pratt-90 years too soon. The film was penned by "Prometheus" and "Doctor Strange" writer John Spaihts.
Jennifer and Chris' names weren't the only ones connected with the film. Back in 2013, Rachel McAdams and Keanu Reeves were rumored to lead the production with "Game of Thrones" director Brian Kirk taking the reins as director (via TheVerge.com). Before that, Reese Witherspoon was also identified to be star in the movie but all pulled out from the project.
In addition to Jennifer and Chris, it has been confirmed by IndieWire.com that Oscar-nominated Morten Tyldum of the "The Imitation Game" will be directing the sci-fi romance.
The film could very much help elevate the careers of both Lawrence and Pratt, with the latter using it as a great opportunity to once again flex his acting chops in dramas which he last showed in "Zero Dark Thirty."
In the event that the duo do sign up for filming, predictions say that fans could expect a late filming late this year or early 2016 with the Lawrence and Pratt already lined up for "X-Men: Apocalypse and "Guardians Of The Galaxy 2" respectively.
Jennifer will grace movie screens November 20 this year again for "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part II" while Chris will star in "Jurassic World" which will roll out in cinemas on June 12.
