Is 'Resident Evil' Review Highlights Game's Mediocrity? Resident Evil HD Remaster Tops PS4, XBox One Selling Charts

By

'Resident Evil' is one of the classic games that effectively thrilled players with its terrifying and creepy scenarios. However, with the recent remake of the game, avid players didn't like it that much as the original version.

Madison shared experiences while playing the current version of the game. Although the graphical improvements are noticeable with its HD quality, better sound quality, and the whole characters involved are clearer, the gameplay itself didn't have the effect unlike the original. Though others would even describe it as "broken."

Resident Evil, apart from being "broken," is also described as a "mediocre." Gamespot cited that this masterpiece has turned to something mediocre. Reasons were the game's appearance. Though it's recent, but still looking like 2002's GameCube version. Apart from the appearance is the "terrifying" experience of the gamers where they can "leap off their seats" which is not that frequent anymore with the remake.

The same site noted that though the notable zombified dogs are still around, with surprising attacks from elsewhere in the area, intensified fightings are still present, yet, it doesn't create the same feeling as expected from its original version.

In details, one of the possible reasons why critics find the game awful is because of its changes in the maneuvers such as the "pushing up the D-pad or analog stick moves the character forward, right turns their right, etc." In the first person, the scheme seemed smooth but it won't be the same with the next. This is followed by the players' ability to move their hands or even just trying to move around. As cited in Madison, there is a slow motion when the player will try to punch, or just merely move the hand.

However, though there are some changes of the game mechanics which other gamers find it awkward, still, there are some positive feedbacks with regards to the newest version of Resident Evil such as the tank controls. They said that with the new version of the game, the tank controls are much more enhanced that it would create emphasis on the game's popular genre - survival and horror.

Meanwhile, amid negative feedbacks from gamers, Resident Evil topped the charts as the best selling western digital title for the month of Janaury. The game has topped both the PS3 and PS4 platforms.

Capcom mentioned that the said game [as a whole] has sold around one million units since last year. Thus, reached the standard number for a major hit. On the other hand, Resident Evil HD also has topped the selling charts recently.

The newest version Resident Evil HD Remaster is currently available in Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, and PC for $20.
