With no confirmed information on when LG will launch G4, speculations about the company's schedule have the smartphone slated for a mid-2015 release date, not March in time for the Mobile World Congress.
The highly-anticipated LG G4, which is supposed to be the first 4K smartphone, is expected in April or May. According to PC Advisor, taking from LH's consistency with its last two smartphone launches in May and August. "Going on a yearly cycle, we expect the G4 to arrive around the same time next year-April or May seem the most likely but MWC 2015 in March is also possible."
However, MWC seems to be out of the running for possible release dates as a company exec apparently told The Chosun that LG wants to "spend more time perfecting the new phone."
BGR also reports The Korea Times mentioning that the phone will definitely not come at the Mobile World Congress this year, with a source revealing that the phone may be unveiled in April instead.
Moreover, a source says that LG aims for a splash upon the release of its new phone. Apparently, the company is considering when Samsung and Apple's new phones are to be released. Apart from thinking of the best release date given the fact that Samsung releases on the first quarter and Apple on the second, LG is also reportedly planning on the price based on its rivals', a "tradition" that some are hoping the company keeps.
Even with its price expected to be cheaper than its competitors', PC Pro mentions the company not compromising on features. According to the article, "We expect that the G4 will be similarly impressive, especially as LG manufactures OLED and P-OLED screens for Apple's iPads and, allegedly, the Apple Watch."
LG's upcoming smartphone is also rumored to leap to 4K resolution, besting out Samsung, which is apparently working on it. "LG's pedigree in televisions could give it a leg-up in developing this technology for smartphones first," adds the article.
G4 will be sporting a 5.3-in display with the same True HD-IPS+ LCD screen. Despite the smaller screen, G4's pixel resolution is expected to be at 554ppi from its predecessor G3's 534ppi.
