Star Wars fans are expecting to see a disheveled, old and reportedly, half-mad Luke Skywalker in The Force Awakens. However, persistent rumors have it that actor Robert Boulter will be playing a young Luke in certain flashback scenes in the movie.
Jason Ward of MakingStarWars.net, claims to have secured a copy of Episode 7’s master list of characters, and indeed it included a young Luke. Ward also claims to have received information from a Star Wars production insider saying that Boulter was being hired to play an important role in the movie. From there, rumor apparently turned into speculation, because Boulter does bear a passing resemblance to a young Mark Hamill, who played Luke in the original Star Wars trilogy.
Meantime, Star Wars Underworld, which appears to be another fan-administered website, further speculated that if a younger Luke does make a cameo appearance in Episode 7, it will most likely show him in a time period immediately following the events of Return of the Jedi. This would seem to be a good call from a casting standpoint because the British actor can possibly make a credible Luke in his early thirties. Hamill looked very much in his twenties in Star Wars 3, even if he was appreciably older in real life.
This latest bit of spoiler from Episode 7 follows a bigger one which supposedly reveals Han Solo’s impending death in the movie. That particular plot leakage continues to send shockwaves throughout the Internet.
The Internet is currently being flooded with The Force Awakens spoilers, which indicates that the Star Wars set continues to hemorrhage trade secrets practically on a daily basis. Director JJ Abrams has already hinted that Episode 7 may be released midyear, or months ahead of the December premier that was originally planned. This seems to suggest that there are real fears within Disney and Lucasfilm that the unending leakages can end up affecting the film, which reportedly comes with a (US) $200 million production price tag, at the box office.
