'The Witness' PC, PS4, iOS Release Date: Game's 677 puzzles are complete; Is launching coming soon?

'Braid' creator Jonathan Blow brings great news on 'The Witness' release date in his recently announced progress report at his game's official website.

In his reported post, he writes that "there are currently 677 puzzles in the game," although, this number might change at launch if the team decides to cut some of these.

However, as far as 'The Witness' release date, he admits that it's still a work in progress based on his statement.

"It does *not* mean that the game is done. We still have a lot to do! But it *does* mean that the nature of the work changes and becomes simpler, because we don't have to be making high-level creative decisions any more," Blow revealed.

"It is now much more about turning the finish-the-game crank (making sure stuff plays well and polishing it up) for anything related to game design, modeling and texturing."

He added as saying, "There are a few categories that still need creative decisions (story stuff, the menu system, etc), but for those of you who are awaiting the game's release, this is pretty good news."

The developer also revealed that he spent his earnings from the sale of the smash hit indie platformer, 'Braid', on the development of his new game and still it's not ready for release.

In his interview with Engadget, Blow dished how he had to borrow money to develop the game as 'Braid's' sales were not that much to finance his team's project.

"Braid still sells well on platforms that are thriving, but two of Braid's big platforms were the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, both of which are sunsetting at this point," Blow explained.

"Not so many people are buying digital games there, so the Braid income is not nearly enough any more to fund the team. I have borrowed a bunch of money to finish The Witness. So I hope when it's done, some people buy the game."

'The Witness' release date coming to PC, PS4, and iOS remains to be announced at some future time.
