"Kingdom Hearts 3" is scheduled for release this 2015 and it will be the culmination of the Xehanort Saga in the Kingdom Hearts Universe. New worlds may be included in the upcoming Kingdom Hearts game and "Key to Return Hearts" has been revealed in recent news.
Amazon has just recently updated its inventory and "Kingdom Hearts 3" is included in its game category with a release date set on December 31, 2015. Report has it that the date may have just been a placeholder date. However it may also mean that the game may be released near the said date and it is possible to get an early 2016 release. Square Enix has yet to confirm the said date.
What the company can confirm as of this time is the story plot for "Kingdom Hearts 3". The following official plot was posted in the Kingdom Hearts webpage is as follows:
Believing light and darkness must remain in balance, Master Xehanort seeks to spark war against the 'tyranny of light' to restore equilibrium. In an effort to undermine Xehanort's plot, Sora, Donald and Goofy search for seven guardians of light and the "Key to Return Hearts," while King Mickey and Riku search for previous Keyblade wielders
Since the "Key to Return Hearts" is important in "Kingdom Hearts 3", there is a recent report that states that the said infamous Keyblades will be related to Sora's Heart. It was also stated that Sora's heart imprisons Venus (also referred to as Roxas). It may be easy for someone to enter it but it won't be easy to leave.
There is also a theory in the report that Sora may be able to find a way to release Ventus from his own heart and it may also be used to other people's hearts. While this remains to be confirmed, it actually fits in to the story so far in the Kingdom Hearts series.
"Kingdom Hearts 3" will tie up the loose ends in the entire franchise. While this may conclude the Xenohart Saga, it may pave a way to open up new storylines and adventures in the Kingdom Hearts universe.
