Sam Heughan is hit with his role based on a book character, but soon the 'Outlander' actor will act as a writer for the dark comedy film 'When the Starlight Ends.' The 34-year old Scottish actor's love interest in the said independent film is Arabella Oz. Will the hunk actor prove his start power beyond Starz series popularity?
'Starlight' has already filming in Los Angeles and on March 6 in Pasadena, so it may be a challenge for Heughan to juggle things especially that he's also busy promoting continuation of Outlander's first season. The Wrap also reported that apart from that its Dr. Mehmet Oz's daughter debut film, Starlight is also under first time writer-director Adam Sigal.
In an interview with EntScoop, Sam said that Oz is doing fine job for her role and he's looking forward for the film. Starlight is produced by Christopher Lemole, Armory Films and Intellectual Films' Mike Gillespie, Patrick Hughes, Bryan O'Connell, and Eric Skinner.
The film's plot tells "a surreal dark comedy that follows a struggling writer who, in a deep depression after losing the love of his life, must confront the decisions he made that compelled her to leave. Through a series of metaphorical vignettes providing insight into their failed relationship, the man decides to rewrite his own life the way he wishes it would have gone."
While waiting for 'Starlight' and before Heughan begin filming Outlander's second season with on screen partner Caitriona Balfe, viewers will finally see 9th episode of Starz's period drama on April 4. In a Yahoo interview, Balfe shared that Outlander's followers shouldn't miss the scenes where Jamie Fraser spanks Claire Randall.
"Claire finds it very hard to wrap her mind around what this man that she's fallen in love with is about to do. What I loved about it was that we took time afterwards for them to figure out a way to get past this in the context of their marriage," Balfe said. "It was really important that even though she might not be able to accept what he did, there had to be a coming to an understanding of his reasons for it and that allowed her to find a way to forgive him."
In relation to his famous character based on Diana Gabaldon's novel, Heughan shared with ET Online that portraying Fraser is a journey at one point not easy to follow.
"You think you know these characters and by the time you get to book eight, they're completely different or they've traveled a long way, and it feels like we're at the start of that journey," he said.
