Verizon is the latest mobile carrier in the US to announced Android 5.0 Lollipop update for their HTC One M8 version.
HTC One M8 Android 5.0 Lollipop rollout does not differ from much from other variants in the market. However, HTC's version of the new Lollipop update gears the new notifications and recent apps multitasking. Other upgrades include Google's Material Design that allows One M8 users to search through settings using a built-in search box.
The Taiwanese tech giant also makes improvements to One M8's three-way calling feature. On top of it all, Verizon has enabled Band 4 LTE roaming.
Android 5.0 Lollipop brings changes and added features for One M8 including:
- New Material Design user-interface
- 64-bit ABI support
- ART runtime
- New notification panel with quick settings
- Update lock screen
- Redesigned recent apps
- Enabled Band 4 roaming
- Enhanced three-way calling
- Several bug fixes
- Updated Sense 6.0 user-interface
The update comes to One M8 devices over-the-air through Wi-Fi connection. A notification message that the update is already available on your phone will pop up on the screen. To continue the update, click the message. Make it sure phone's battery is charged.
If automatic update is not available, users can manually update One M8 with Android 5.0 Lollipop. Go to Settings > About phone > System update > Check for Update. Meanwhile, Verizon is the third US carrier to have rolled out the over-the-air (OTA) update following Sprint and T-Mobile. AT&T's One M8 device is the only version still stuck on Android 4.4.4 Kitkat.
HTC promised earlier that Android 5.0 Lollipop will be made available to One M7 and One M8 smartphones after 90 days of Google's release. However, the update for One M8 goes beyond 100 days while One M7 has not received the update yet.
"We are continuing to push hard to deliver Lollipop to all devices as near the 90-day mark as possible, but we are taking every precaution to ensure the rollout is right and we aren't willing to compromise at your expense," said Mo Versi previously, HTC Vice President for Product Management.
He furthered: "While we are committed to delivering within this time period, we are even more committed to ensuring these updates result in an even better experience with your device because that is what the updates are intended to do."
