Google is reportedly working with Huawei for the next-generation Nexus 6 smartphone for 2015.
A report stated that a tech analyst believes that the Chinese telecomm company will manufacture the 2015 Nexus 6. This low-cost smartphone will succeed LG Nexus 5, which was released in 2013.
Kevin Yang, director of the China-based research firm iSuppli, revealed on Chinese social media Weibo earlier today that Google has indeed chosen Huawei as the company to build one of the possible two 2015 Nexus smartphones.Yang said he can confirm earlier reports made by a tech blog that Google has already signed the deal with Huawei to collaborate on the next version of the pure Android smartphone. The tech blog first reported yesterday that Huawei and Google are already closely working in the lab for the 2015 Nexus 6.
During the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015, Huawei CEO Richard Yu expressed that his company is considering working with Google to expand its presence in the US market. However, Yang never made mention of the talks that Google's plan is to produce two Nexus smartphones in 2015.
Earlier, the South Korean tech titan LG is reported to partner with Google to manufacture sophisticated Android M flagship with Nexus 6. South Korea's Samsung and LG and Taiwan's HTC have already made previous Nexus models.
Released last fall, Motorola's Nexus 6 received good reviews from users, which Google claimed its sales have gone below the fence owing to production issues. The 2014 Nexus 6 was sold in the market way higher than its forerunners like the LG's 2013 Nexus 5 and 2012 Nexus 4. The current Nexus 6 smartphone was first released in October 2014.
Earlier, Huawei was already rumored to produce the said Nexus smartphone and is expected to run in a new version of Android operating system. Google has previously dropped codename Android M for the future OS, the successor of Android Lollipop.
The same report stated that Huawei also takes into consideration whether to include its own proprietary chipset in the cheaper Nexus device or a processor from Qualcomm.
