Mac Notebook to Introduce 13.1mm Ultrathin Profile, 12" Retina Display, Buttonless Touchpad

Apple launches the thinnest MacBook to date, with a depth that's just 13.1mm and a weight just 2 pounds, alongside Apple Watch.

The announcement of the MacBook - yes the name is just MacBook now - is one of the highlights of the event. It comes with most of the rumored features of the laptop - from the 12-inch Retina Display to the single USB Type-C connector, from the buttonless touchpad and the keyboard that spans the width of the body of the laptop down to the space gray color option.

Compared to the previous MacBook, the 12-inch MacBook marks an increase in screen size but it sports a 24 percent thinner body size than the 11-inch MacBook Air. According to Apple, this Macbook's Retina display with a 2304 x 1440 resolution saves 30 percent more battery life than previous displays.

The keyboard comes with "butterfly mechanism" and an individual LED lighting for each key for better and much more precise typing experience and to aid in making the device a little bit thinner, respectively.

The touchpad no longer clicks, as speculated. Apple uses force sensors which are attached to each corner of the touchpad to manage the "click feel". This results to a whole new functionality called Force Click, a new use of the pressure sensitivity where a video can be played faster by pressing harder on the fast-forward in QuickTime.

It's also virtually stripped of different ports in favor of a single USB Type-C connector. This makes wireless connections necessary for transferring files, but the special cable that splits into a separate charger and data ports that Apple also sells comes equally handy.

There are three color options for the new MacBook: silver, space gray, and, gold. Apple's newest MacBook will be available on April 10 with a starting price of $1,299.

Apple has also updated its range of MacBook products, both Pro and Air lineups during the event.
