Avengers: Age of Ultron is set to be the biggest film of summer 2015, by far. But what about past that- will Age of Ultron have any major lasting effects on the Marvel Universe? The original film didn't have too many, aside from Tony Stark's depression and the introduction of a superhero team to the modern public. But Age of Ultron could be different- Age of Ultron could very well set in motion events that will affect multiple Phase 3 films.
First, there's Thor: Ragnarok. It's well known that at the end of the last film, Thor: The Dark World, Loki had secretly posed himself as Odin and was ruling Asgard as part of some secret scheme. Most likely, that scheme will come into play in Thor: Ragnarok, but Avengers: Age of Ultron could change how it plays out. If Loki was to show up in the film, any contact with Ultron could give him a new source of power, or vibranium or even access to a robot army- all of which could make a difference in Thor: Ragnarok.
Next is Captain America: Civil War. Obviously, this one's tied to Age of Ultron, because Civil War finds Tony Stark and Steve Rogers battling it out as bitter enemies over the idea of superhereroes registering their identities with the government. Naturally, something has to happen over the course of Age of Ultron to make these two close friends into bitter rivals.
There's also Spider-Man- it's been rumored that Spider-Man may cameo in the final moments of Avengers: Age of Ultron, and if that's the case then Spider-Man's story may be established in the closing seconds of this summer's superhero epic. We might even see a villain, or the actor who's playing Peter Parker- who hasn't been cast yet.
There's also Iron Man 4, which would likely play off the ending of Captain America: Civil War, which would likely play off the ending of Avengers: Age of Ultron. There's an endless wealth of possible connections between Age of Ultron and the rest of the Marvel Universe. Now, all we have to do is watch the movie this summer.
