Blue Sky Studios, owned by 20th Century Fox, the studio that brought us "Rio" and "Horton Hear a Who!" will be bringing back the fifth installment of the successful "Ice Age" animated movie franchise. The four films were "Ice Age" (2002), "Ice age : The Meltdown" (2006), "Ice Age : Dawn of Dinosaurs" (2009) and "Ice Age : Continental Drift" (2012). Michael Berg, the writer who wrote the screenplay and co-created the story will be back to pen the sequel. He will also be the one to pen Robert C. O'Brien's Mrs. Frisby & the Rats of Nimh, the classic tale wherein the Ice Age film came from.
Will Ray Romano return? Original cast to reprise their roles?
The details about the production and cast are thin but the original cast are expected to return for the movie sequel. Ray Romano, the actor who was known for his role in the long-time running show "Everybody Loves Raymond" is the voice talent behind the serious but lovable, fluffy, hero mammoth named Manny.
In the last film, Manny and many other another surviving animals are on the move to avoid getting crushed by the ice that are constantly shifting due to the continental drift. But Manny, Sid, Granny and Diego got separated from the herd and got imprisoned by pirates lead by Captain Gutt, who was voiced by Peter Dinklage. They eventually escaped and went through an adventure before they got reunited with their family in a safer place.
The "Ice Age : Continental Drift" cast, who are expected to return for the fifth sequel are composed on Ray Roman, Jennifer Lopez, Queen Latifah, Aziz Ansari, Joy Behar, John Leguizamo, Drake, Josh Gad, Nick Frost, Peter Dinklage, Nicki Minaj, Josh Peck, Keke Palmed, Patrick Stewart, Chris Wedge, Seann William Scott, Alan Tudyk, Rebel Wilson and Wana Sykes.
The four films' success, translated into $2.8 billion in total of gross worldwide.
