Savoring Paul Walker's Presence; 'Fast & Furious 7' Emotionally Driven Sequel? Action Film, Worthy of Oscar Nod for Vin Diesel

With the idea that it's the last Paul Walker's appearance, possibly bittersweet is another word to describe the seventh installment of 'The Fast and the Furious.' However for Vin Diesel, the film is not only thrilling but also hearth-pumping enough to get Oscars nod. The Universal Pictures movie that also stars Michelle Rodriguez, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Chris 'Ludacris' Bridges, and Jason Statham will show in theaters on April 3.

"Universal is going to have the biggest movie in history with this movie," Diesel shared in his interview with Variety. "It will probably win best picture at the Oscars, unless the Oscars don't want to be relevant ever."

"This will win best picture," the 47-year-old 'Riddick' actor said. "There is nothing that will ever come close to the power of this thing."

According to James Wan, the film has emotional impact that he couldn't even watch its ending scene despite of the fact he's the who directed the entire movie. The director also admitted that there's also a point that he find it difficult to continue due to Walker untimely death.

"Let me put it this way: I edited the movie, I shot the movie, I worked on the music... Yet, every time I watch the film it still hits me in a big, big way. The ending has such a huge emotional impact for me and I have such a hard time watching it. I have to get up before the credits start rolling and just walk away. Just walk the emotion off. Even now, the final shot we have in the movie has such a strong impact on me," Wan told Screen Crush.

"There were moments where I wasn't sure how I could continue with this. I don't mean that in a technical way, I mean in an emotional way. I didn't know if I had it in me to pull the actors and the crew together. But it became very clear to all of us that we had to finish this movie for Paul. That was the most important thing."

Meantime, Entertainment Weekly reported that potentially Furious 7 earned $115 million on its first day, a highest one for any movie that shows in April. The movie had a surprise debut in the South by Southwest Film Festival last week, which according to EW garnered praises.

"What the world won't anticipate is how emotionally powerful the movie is," Diesel shared with Variety. "We were successful in one-upping the action sequences, and adding an interesting dynamic to the world."

In the middle of the Furious 7's production, Walker died in a car crash on November 30, 2013. To complete his remaining scenes, his brother Cody and Caleb agreed to do stand-ins. Film's producer Neal H. Moritz said, via Huffington Post, that's he's proud of their work and knows that Paul is smiling down on them.

"He was really the best guy I ever met in my world -- in my life. When we decided we were going to continue this movie, we were determined to honor his legacy and our love for him forever," Moritz said about Walker, who's known as Brian O'Conner for The Fast and the Furious fans.
