'Dancing With The Stars' update: Rumer Willis awes viewers with her "Xena-like" costume

By

Everyone who thought that singer and actress Rumer Willis was not going to shine after her "average" performance in the second week of 'Dancing With The Stars' season 20 are now thinking twice after she walked away with the highest score on last week's premiere night, according to an article published by the International Business Times. Willis, along with her partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy, received 32 out of 40 points after they did the Cha-Cha to the tune of "Rumour Has It."

Sporting a two-piece gladiator-esque gunmetal costume, Willis enchanted the audiences as she and her partner Chmerkovskiy stole the spotlight not just with their dance number, but also with their costumes. Zena Shteysel, who is the head makeup artist of 'Dancing With The Stars,' said of Willis in an interview with People magazine: "She wants to look powerful and feminine à la Xena, 'The Warrior Princess.'"

On the premier night, Willis and her partner did a foxtrot number to the tune of "Take me to Church" while wearing a dusty pink gown which was faced with pink Swarovski Crystals. And even though they lost their number one spot and became tied with fellow competitors Willow Shields and Riker Lynch, the judges were still too impressed that they named the couple as the "pair to watch out for this season." In fact, Julianne Hough even stated that she literally "got chills" while watching Willis and Chmerkovskiy perform.

When the actress was interviewed by Good Morning America, she described how she felt that she did not have a lot of competition, and that she and her partner Val would show their best no matter what the scores would be.
