Sony outgunned Nintendo during these couple of weeks on the Media Create charts in Japan with "Final Fantasy Type-0 HD." The game was officially recorded as the top grosser for the next generation console PS4.
Square Enix's "Final Fantasy Type-0 HD" made it at the top of the Media Create charts in Japan from March 16th to 22nd, which also caused Sony's next generation console, PS4, to outrank Nintendo on the charts. The "Final Fantasy" spin-off, which was part of the "Fabula Nova Crystallis Final Fantasy" series sold 92,094 units during its first three days on sale.
Other titles that were also released under Sony's PlayStation series of game consoles made it to top 10 in the Media Create charts in Japan. These titles were Capcom's "Resident Evil Revelations 2," with 73,373 units; EA's "Battlefield," with 68,823 units; Capcom's "Resident Evil Revelations 2," 42,358 units; Sony's "Minecraft: PlayStation Vita Edition," with 36,151 units; SEGA's "Yakuza 0," with 29,568 units; EA's "Battlefield: Hardline," with 28,976 units; and SEGA's "Phantasy Star Online 2: Episode 3 Deluxe Package," with 26,289 units. Meanwhile, Nintendo took the 9th and 10th spots in the Media Create charts with "Mario Party 10" and "PriPara & Pretty Rhythm: PriPara de Tsukaeru Oshare Item 1450!"
In an earlier report, Square Enix presented a very dark image of "Final Fantasy Type-0 HD" during the PAX East 2015 held in Boston. The video teaser on the game presented the members of the Type-0 defenders who tried to subdue the efforts of an evil empire to subjugate the countries in Orience. The trailer also gave gamers a sneak peek on "Final Fantasy XV."
"Final Fantasy Type-0 HD" was released in North America on March 17th. It also featured a demo of "Final Fantasy XV." Due to its popularity in the Japan, the developers finally gave in to fans' request to import "Final Fantasy Type-0 HD" to the US; probably in time, it might also gain much traction as its Japanese counterpart.
