Looks like Sony is bent on giving its die-hard carry-around portable PlayStation fans - and would-be users - a better gaming experience. With updates for PS Vita handheld's firmware going live across Europe, the US and Asia, owners and gaming aficionados are bound to be enthralled by a host of timely feature upgrades - enhanced accessibility options chief among them.
And though most of the features are geared towards making customers with disabilities enjoy the games even more, surprisingly these tweaks also enhance everybody's gaming experience.
Giving Those with Less, More
From the looks of it, Sony may have had physically-challenged players largely in mind at the drawing board when planning the just-rolled out 3.5 updates.
Key improvements such as enhanced accessibility options which include button remapping, enlarged text, inverted colours, contrast adjustment, and zoom functionality makes it all apparent.
Such impressive array of features would give customers with impaired vision and those with limited manual dexterity a way to expand their gaming experience, according to gamespot.
But at a closer look, the same features benefit the gaming public in general - with or without disability.
A Better Handle
As things turn out, serious gamers also would benefit a lot from the new features, expanding gaming options even more.
For instance, button remapping would be a boon for players who want to use the PS Vita's function as a spare PS4 controller.
Also this would be most helpful for people who want to stream PS4 games right down to their handhelds using Remote Play.
With remapping around, Vita's shortcomings as it has fewer shoulder buttons compared to the DualShock 4 controller would be greatly slimmed down.
In hindsight, it was just last January that Sony went public and announced certain apps will no longer be available in Vita - YouTube one of them.
Somehow, glaring changes in the recent Vita update has been confirmed by Digital Spy. For one you won't find the Maps application anymore - along with a couple of tweaks in the platform.
