The brand new racing sim NASCAR 16 sees a release date window this 2016 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC platforms, DMi Games has announced while the NASCAR 15 is arriving this spring as a season update to last year's title.
The studio has revealed that it is working on a new simulation for 2016 for PS4, Windows PC and Xbox One that is called at the moment, NASCAR 16, set to release next year.
On January 27, DMi Games confirmed that it had already acquired the official license for NASCAR's video games including other entertainment media properties as announced at DMi's official website.
"As of January 1, 2015, DMi became NASCAR's license for video games. It is a deal that has been in the works for several months," Ed Martin, the top executive of DMi, Inc. stated.
Martin further expressed his thanks to the long-term license that gives the company the opportunity to create and release games not just on next gen consoles Xbox One, PS4, PC but on mobiles and other platforms as well.
He also revealed that racing fans around the world can anticipate a brand new NASCAR 16 title set for 2016 release date.
"We are already hard at work on several new games including an all-new NASCAR racing sim created by DMi for PS4, Xbox One, and PC that we expect to release in 2016," Martin revealed.
On the other hand, the previous title owner, Eutechnyx, which had the NASCAR license since 2014 will still proceed with the release of season update to last year's edition, NASCAR 15, that will be launched on all three NASCAR 14 platforms, PS3, Windows PC and Xbox 360.
Retrospectively, NASCAR racing games were first introduced in the gaming community between 1990s and early 2000 developed by EA Sports and Papyrus. The franchise became exclusive to EA sports back in 2003 but was acquired by Eutechnyx and Activision until 2014. DMi Games then purchased the ownership at the beginning of 2015
The NASCAR 14 title was the last game developed by Eutechnyx and Activision with Deep Silver as the publisher last year.
NASCAR 15 is set to release this spring as a season update to last year's racing title and the brand new NASCAR 16 release will arrive to the current gen consoles, Xbox One, PS4, and PC sometime in 2016.
