Ben Stiller's fans have something different to look forward to from their favorite comedian. His teenage punk album Road Kill from his garage band Capital Punishment in the 1980s is set for a re-launch this fall.
Did you know that this A-list actor and star of Meet the Parents played the drum like a wild rock star? Unknown to many, way before his Greg Frocker and Derek Zoolander days, Stiller had this dream of becoming a punk star back when he was still a teenager. In highschool, he became a member of the garage band named Capital Punishment and acted as the group's drummer.
Ben Stiller must have probably listened to a lot of noisy proto-punk music during his high school days. In a recent interview with Howard Stern, Road Kill was described by Stiller as "really a weird music" owing to their dying admiration of David Bowie and Eno at that time. Ben Stiller also told Stern that he was somewhat surprised that a "real company" got interested to re-launch their 1982 album.
The quirked-out punk band Capital Punishment first released one album, Road Kill in 1982 which can be described as a genre of music which captures both fake British accents and Captain Beefheart growls.
Capital Punishment's album songs were uploaded on You Tube and last year, rumors began circulating that Ben Stiller is negotiating to reissue the said album.
He revealed bosses at New York label Captured Tracks called him up and his other band mates and later announced their plans to reissue their 80's album Road Kill. Stiller's other co-band members were reported to be doing well in their respective fields. Bassist Peter Swann is an appellate judge based in Arizona and Peter Zusi is a professor of Slavic Studies at University College London.
Road Kill will be re-launched by Indie record label Captured Tracks this fall.
This re-issue treatment of Ben Stiller's and his former band mate's long-lost 80's album is a dream come true for them especially for Stiller who really wanted to become a rock legend.
