It seems like the Suicide Squad cast grows larger with each passing day. And today's piece of casting news is an especially large one- that Scott Eastwood, son of Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood, will be joining the film.
Forbes initially confirmed the news that Eastwood would be a part of Suicide Squad, but they didn't actually have the information on which comic book character he'd be playing. Well, another rumor came along to clear that up- according to the latest buzz, he'll be playing long-time Wonder Woman love interest Steve Trevor. Which certainly makes sense, given that Eastwood's celebrity so far has been based on his good looks (and, of course, his famous dad).
If Eastwood is, in fact, playing Steve Trevor, that could mean that his character won't be an official part of the Suicide Squad- but may have some connection to the greater military surrounding the squad, or even Amanda Waller, who will be played by Viola Davis. But what it does mean is that it's extremely likely that the film will tie directly into Wonder Woman, as it's all but a given that Wonder Woman's love interest will appear in her own movie.
This casting could even mean that Wonder Woman herself might appear in Suicide Squad, if only for a few seconds. It's already been confirmed that Batman will have a cameo in the film (again, most likely an extremely brief one), so it's not too far off that another DC Comics hero would show up too.
Other recent casting news for Suicide Squad includes Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as the hulking Batman villain Killer Croc and Raymond Olubowale as another massive baddie based on an undersea creature- King Shark. If director David Ayer has any sense in him, he'll have Croc and Shark battle it out at some point in Suicide Squad. Or maybe fight someone together as a man-eating duo. Whichever's cooler.
Suicide Squad will premiere in theaters on August 5, 2016.
