Rumors of a movie adapted from the televisions series Avatar: Legend of Korra has been out for more than three years already but Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures are not yet revealing or even giving hints if a possible movie spin-off is indeed on the works. The rumors are not stopping and the anticipation of fans is gradually increasing, so a possible announcement from the makers and producers of the series is not far from being possible.
Korra, the said descendant of the Avatar Aang lives in a modern world where some people see "bending" as a danger to the human race. The series follows a four book series and a movie adapted from these book series is not far from being explored by the producers. After the recent success of several cartoon movies in the box office, the potential of creating box-office records for the "Legend of Korra" spin-off could become a reality. A possible release in 3D and it's availability in iMax cinemas is not a farfetched dream for the movie.
Book 1 of the "Legend of Korra" series features Korra a 17 year old Avatar who mastered all the elemental arts except airbending. She later on meets Tenzin, youngest son of the Avatar Aang, who will be her master in the arts of airbending. The Equalist starts to become bothered and will be extremely violent upon her appearance. Her challenges and escapades as the young teenage avatar would most likely create a connection with the audience. Audience will get to learn more about the Republic City and the dangers of the new world.
Book 2 of the television series is about Korra's adventure in the Spirit World. The Avatar world will be explored in this book series, where several new characters and mythology will be introduced, rocking the foundation of the show as well as the earlier chapters of the original Avatar series.
The third book of the series deals with the journey of Korra in his goal in defeating the Dark Avatar. A planet shift will also happen due to the Harmonic Convergence. Korra is a different Avatar in the movie. She has finally reached maturity in her mind and soul and has learned to use her powers to do almost the impossible things. Zaheer will be imprisoned in this capter and UnaVaatu's defeat is a very cinematic event to consider in the development of the possible movie.
Book 4 on the other hand is the conclusion of the series. It will feature the fight between Kuvira and Korra, an inevitable fight that has long been overdue in the series. Peace will finally be achieved and a new world where benders and non-benders co-exist will bring a happy ending to the Nickelodeon series.
Hopefully in a year or two, the dream of a "Avatar: Legend of Korra" movie will finally come true.
