Even though the original "BioShock" is already a masterpiece in the eyes of many gamers, it seems as though the fan favorite could still be improved upon if the latest fan-made trailer for it is any indication.
The new trailer shows "BioShock" as it runs on the relatively new CryEngine 3, and the improvements are stark and very striking to say the least.
The trailer only encompasses a short scene, that being the opening of the game, specifically the point where the player first finds and goes inside the underwater city known as Rapture. The scene shows the player moving through a lighthouse situated deep in the middle of the ocean, according to Gamespot.
Originally, "BioShock" utilized a uniquely-made atmosphere and distinct art-deco style to create a world that has never been so perfectly executed within video games, according to WCCF Tech.
The game leveraged its distinctly different visuals to engage gamers even more, and when paired with the title's soundtrack, it was difficult to come up with any better aesthetic environment that could have acted as the game's backdrop.
When it was originally released in 2007, "BioShock" utilized a modified version of Unreal Engine 2.5 to power up its visuals. What's interesting is that when running on CryEngine 3, the game almost takes on a more realistic tone, according to Hardcore Gamer.
CryEngine 3 is also used to power the visuals for newer titles such as "Evolve" and "Star Citizen."
The fan, who identified himself as Game Time, behind the BioShock trailer for CryEngine 3 commented on the work that went into it.
"I loved working on this project, because it forced me to push myself further, having to learn Zbrush for the sculptures and becoming more involved with CryEngine's Trackview, Flowgraph and audio systems. I would like to further push this scene in the future by involving the player into the animations and extend the scene to Rapture itself," said Game Time.
